Republicans: Budget Is Done

Republicans say the state Budget Is Done

The chances of passing supplemental budget bills to restore nearly one-billion dollars cut out of the current fiscal year budget by Governor Whitmer appear slim. Both Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey and House Speaker Lee Chatfield are saying the “budget is done,” and they’re ready to move on to other issues facing lawmakers and the state. Whitmer last week used 147 line item vetoes on the budget, and moved around other spending following passage by the Republican-led Legislature of the bills without input from her after she left the negotiations.
